Home Remedies for Cracked Heels



Heel fissures, or cracked heels, are a common problem in which the skin begins to break along the outer edge of the heel. The skin there becomes very dry, hard and flaky, which causes the fissures to occur. Some of these fissures may even lead to painful bleeding. But there's no need to lose hope, because there are excellent home remedies to treat this condition.

Home Remedies for Cracked Heels:

Sesame Oil
Sesame oil is rich in vitamin E and three different kinds of acids. It has also anti-bacterial properties. Apply sesame oil on your heels and any cracked parts each night before going to bed. This is a great cracked heels solution for feet. Massage well till it mixes in the skin. Do this every night to get rid of cracks and have beautiful smooth heels.

Milk
Milk is loaded with vitamin A and many other nutrients that contribute to healthy glowing skin. It also contains lactic acid, which can shed dead skin cells and promote the growth of new, healthy cells. Make a milk-based foot bath by combining 1 cup milk and 5- 7 cups warm water.

Turmeric
Turmeric is very well known for its herbal properties that will help to get cure from wide range of skin problems. The case of cracked feet can also be cured by the use of turmeric. It is very much rich in curcuminoids and thus can treat cracked feet with best possibilities. The anti-inflammatory property will help in healing from cracked skin.

Mix 3 tablespoons turmeric powder in a few drops of coconut oil and apply the solution to cracked feet. Rest for 20- 30 minutes and then wash your feet with warm water and a mild soap.

Vaseline. 
Moisturizing is a common use of Vaseline and other petroleum jelly products This has been a great aid in treating cracked feet. All you got to do is apply a generous amount of Vaseline onto the bottom of your feet and wear socks. You can do this when you’re going to bed. However, remember to scrub your feet first before trying this. . This will better allow the Vaseline to soak into your feet. Be sure to rinse your feet in the morning. 


Olive oil 
The moisturizing properties of olive oil can be a lifesaver for dry, cracked feet. Add a few drops of lavender essential oil or lemon to boost the healing effects. Combine your chosen ingredients in a jar and then shake until a milky solution forms. Apply the homemade cream to your cracked heels.  You can repeat this every day.

Honey
Honey is rich in antibacterial properties and can also provide a moisturizing effect. Combine 2-3 tablespoons of honey into the warm water and soak your feet for 15 minutes. This will leave your feet feeling moist and supple.

Lemon Juice
Applying lemon juice to cracked heels will soften the skin as lemon has acidic properties. Stick your feet in a bucket of lukewarm water and lemon juice for 10 to 15 minutes to hydrate your feet. Once you finish, clean your feet with a pumice stone and pat your feet dry.

Sugar
Livestrong recommends mixing a homemade exfoliating scrub made from equal parts olive oil and brown sugar. Give yourself a foot massage with the sugar scrub. Be sure to focus on the roughest part of your feet. After 10- 15 minutes, rinse your feet under cold water.
