Natural Remedies To Control Teeth And Gum Deterioration

The gum or gingiva consists of the mucosal tissue that lies over the mandible and maxilla inside the mouth. If your gums are receding or retracting, this could be a sign of a gum disease.

Receding gums happen when the gums draw back from the crown of the teeth. It can happen during childhood or adolescence and because it is progressive, it worsens over time. Usually, those with this problem are over the age of 40 in which the roots of the teeth are already exposed.

There are many reasons that can cause gingival recession. These are:
  • Hormone imbalance
  • Heredity
  • Periodontal disease
  • Poor dental hygiene
  • Aggressive brushing of teeth

These receding gums don’t always need to be treated at a dentist’s office. You can use some natural remedies to control teeth and gum deterioration:

1. Green Tea
*It can  help reduce gum inflammation and even destroy the bacteria present in the mouth that cause periodontal diseases. Drink green tea every morning to maintain the health of your teeth and gums.

2. Coconut Oil
*This oil has antimicrobial properties, making it a good remedy for receding gums. It can kill bacteria that may be the cause behind the gum problem. Brush your teeth first, then take some virgin coconut oil, and start swishing your mouth with the oil. You can also use sesame oil instead of coconut oil.

3. Aloe Vera
*It can help soothe periodontal disease, including gum problems. When you buy toothpastes or mouthwashes, go for those products that contain aloe vera.

4. Vitamin C
*If you’re deficient in vitamin C, this can result to gum bleeding and inflammation. You can take supplements to help improve the condition of your gums. You can also eat more foods that are rich in the vitamin, including fresh vegetables and fruits like bell peppers, dark leafy greens, and of course citrus fruits.

5. Clove
*Using oil from clove can help stimulate gum growth and repair the tissues that may have been damaged due to gum disease. Clove oil is an antimicrobial, antifungal, antiseptic agent. You can use clove oil as mouthwash by adding five to six drops of the oil into a cup of warm water.
