Homemade Collagen Boosting and Pore Tightening Facial Mask

The main reasons your facial skin starts to sag with age is the reduced production of collagen. Collagen is a structural protein that makes up about 3/4 ths of the skin composition and helps in retaining the firmness and suppleness of our skin. Youthful skin has more collagen and elastin content in it and hence is elastic and plump. With time, slowly your skin loses out its collagen content and becomes prone to fine lines, sagging and wrinkles. If you want to delay the onset of age lines and plump up your skin, then the way to do it is to boost the collagen content in the skin.

It may seem unlikely that a facial made in your own home could be powerful enough to do that, but there is one that can help. It’s made from egg and cucumber and is incredibly nourishing to the skin.
These ingredients are far more affordable than any facial mask you can buy in a department store, and it will deliver the same, if not better, results.

Ingredients Needed:

  • 2 or 3 inches of fresh cucumber, with skin
  • 2 drops of frankincense essential oil (optional) – this promotes cellular regeneration
  • 1 egg white
  • cornstarch (optional)

Direction:

  • Whip together the cucumber and egg whites in the blender on the lowest setting until you have a nice froth.
  • Put into a glass or ceramic bowl and add the frankincense and cornstarch (just enough to create a paste-like consistency).
  • Start by gently massaging your face first to get the blood flowing to maximize the benefits of the ingredients. This will help the skin to absorb more nutrients. Wash with warm water and then apply the mask. Leave it to stay for 15-20 minutes, rinse, and pat dry.
  • For better results, follow the face mask with an astringent toner, such as witch hazel extract, to further minimize the appearance of large pores and keep them tightened longer.
